The producers and cast of a new musical, Allegiance, starring George Takei, Lea Salonga, and Telly Leung about the World War II Japanese internment experience talk about the project at Pacific Media Expo. Producers Lorenzo Thione and Jay Kuo, along with cast member George Takei and Paul Nakauchi, who plays the patriarch in the production will be at PMX for one day only, Friday, November 11, 2011. George Takei will be present at the Allegiance panel.

bBoy Workshop Two of the organizers of The First Annual breakLA Hip Hop Competition from UCLA will be at Pacific Media Expo to teach you some breakdancing!

This workshop is a fundraiser for The First Annual breakLA Hip Hop Competition. Suggested fee for the workshop is $5 per person. Info on the event is here:

The only hip hop dance competition of its kind in Los Angeles, breakLA will bring together a diverse collection of some of the finest hip hop dance companies and crews both locally and nationally to compete for a cash prize over the course of the day and evening of February 9th, 2012. The preliminary includes crews such as Killafornia, Squadron, Battle Born, and exhibition artists such as Beat Rhino, RJ KoolRaul, Dennis Infante, and Servin Ervin.

Workshop instructors are Alex Zai and Seng Beng. Alex has been bboying for four years and Seng has been bboying for three years.

Founders, Ginger Burton(GNB Cosplay), Brittney Angel Drake (Stylized artist), Ashphord 'ashi-chan' Jacoway (I Wish My Life Was a RPG), Danielle McRae (League of Legends), Deanna McRae (Freelance Artist), and Nivi (Nerd Model) met in June of this year and have attended and helped in many local events, contests, performances, and meet-ups in the Cosplay community, including events by LAWeekly, V3 Cosplay Syndicate, SpikeTV, MTVGeek and Meldown Comics. We welcome all fans, girls & guys of all different backgrounds to come meet the lovely ladies of Chocolate Covered Cosplay for an open and honest dialogue on con-culture and see what we ladies of C3 are all about.

The Ladies of Tenchi Muyo

Pacific Media Expo (PMX) is proud to welcome voice actresses from the classic anime series Tenchi Muyo in 2011. Fans may be familiar with the series from its television run back in 2000 on Cartoon Network's Toonami programming block. Voice actresses Petrea Burchard, Rebecca Forstadt, Ellen Gerstell and Sherry Lynn are scheduled to appear at Pacific Media Expo for The Ladies of Tenchi Muyo panel on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at the LAX Hilton.

A main focus panel will take place at 12:00 PM in the Live Programming 2 Room (Los Angeles A) and conclude by 1:00pm. An open autograph session will follow the panel at 1:00PM in the Autographs Room and conclude by 2:00pm. A panel for our press attendees will wrap things up at 2:00PM and conclude by 3:00pm.

This kind of reunion is one-of-a-kind, you won't want to miss out on all the excitement!

Jeet Kune Do Workshop

Pacific Media Expo is pleased to present a martial arts workshop in Jeet Kune Do with Mike Rivas. Jeet Kune Do (JKD) is the creation of legendary martial artist and action star Bruce Lee. Rivas is a Professor of Martial arts based at Mt. San Antonio College and long time student to one of Bruce Lee's leading disciples, Ted Wong. Workshop will cover basics in JKD and give attendees a taste of what this martial art has to offer. Workshop runs from 10-11am so don't miss out on this rare opportunity to try out the martial arts system of a legend.

 
Filipino Martial Arts Workshop

Saturday 3-5 PM in Marina

Image Pacific Media Expo is pleased to present a Filipino martial arts (FMA) workshop on Balintawak Eskrima with Master Rino Balinado. Balintawak Eskrima is a style of Filipino martial arts made famous by Grandmaster Anciong Bacon, whose participation in many “Death Matches” are stories of legend. As with most FMA, this system utilizes the use of a single stick (baton, olisi, garote) approximately 28” long to help enhance hand/ eye coordination, speed, and timing. Workshop will cover basics in Balintawak Eskrima, such as strikes, angles, defenses, and counters. Training sticks will be available for use or purchase at the workshop, which runs from 3-4 PM on Saturday. Come and share the experience of learning an indigenous martial art from the Philippines.

We are also running two ABJD-related contests -- our first-ever ABJD Costume Contest and Project Ball-Joint, an ABJD approach to that popular fashion reality TV show.
